Bio

Directed by head coach Katie Dailey, the USF Women's Basketball Team put together a 23-10 (11-6 GPAC) record and advanced to the NAIA DII National Semifinals in Sioux City, Iowa in 2002-03. It is the farthest any women's team has advanced in national tournament play. 

The Cougars, which had an 11-1 home record, were led by five players scoring in double digits, including USF Hall of Famers Courtney (Farrell) Wynthein (18.2 ppg, 8.8 rpg); Lindsey (Schneiderman) Smith (13.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg)  and Stephanie (Austin) Myers (10.7 ppg, 6.0 rpg). In addition, Krista Orsack, who hit 80 three-pointers, contributed 12.0 ppg and Jill (Austin) Flint supplied 11.8 ppg and 6.9 rebounds. 

As a team, USF averaged 83.8 points, hitting 45.2 percent from the field and 32.9 from three-point range. They held a 7.5 rebound advantage per game over opponents. After ending the regular season with 10 wins in 12 games, the Cougars opened the NAIA national tournament with an 83-82 win over Southern Oregon, rallying from a 24-point deficit as Smith scored 27 points and Wynthein, 17, to advance to the "Sweet 16." The Cougars advanced to the "Elite 8" as Smith scored 20 points while Wynthein and Flint had double doubles in rolling to a 93-70 win over Cedarville, 93-70. To reach the "Final Four," USF had 19 points from Stephanie Myers and a double double from Wynthein (15 points, 11 rebounds) to defeat Holy Family, 81-67. USF's national tournament run ended in the semifinals in a 71-56 loss to Dakota Wesleyan at the Sioux City (Iowa) Auditorium.
