Stephanie (Austin) Myers, who earned a B.S. in Exercise Science and Wellness from USF in 2003, was a standout in both women’s basketball and softball, serving as a team captain in both sports. Named All-GPAC first time in 2002-03, she concluded her basketball career with 1,153 points, 716 rebounds, 240 assists and 156 steals. She was also an honorable mention All-GPAC twice (2000-01, 2001-02) in basketball, once in softball (2001-02), and named an NAIA Scholar Athlete. Three times, Austin had 353 points or more in a season.
As a senior, she scored 353 points with 198 rebounds, 76 assists and 44 steals as she helped lead the Cougars to a 23-10 (11-6 GPAC) record and a place in the NAIA DII National Semifinals in Sioux City, Iowa. Named All-GPAC, she played on the same team as her sister, Jill, while her young sister, Jessica (who later played at USF) was the water girl for the squad. During her junior year, USF was 16-13, with Austin earning 399 points, 204 rebounds, 109 assists and 55 steals. As a sophomore, she played in 33 games with 383 points, 195 rebounds, 51 assists and 55 steals as USF finished 15-12 (8-6 SDIC). As a senior at USF, she received the Representative Woman Award, a Purple Feather Award, Outstanding Senior Exercise Science student and was the 2002-03 Female Student Athlete of the Year.
After leaving USF, Myers earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and a Health Care Management Certificate from Creighton University. She has worked at Avera (Sioux Falls) since 2006 serving as a physical therapist working with neurological patients. Her husband, Nick, is also graduate of USF.
