A 1968 graduate (Bachelor Degree) of the University of Sioux Falls, Krayl, originally of Point Pleasant, N.J., was a two-time NAIA All-American on the hardwood. As a freshman, Krayl averaged 22.0 points per game and finished a stellar career as USF’s career leading scorer with 2,029 points. At graduation, he ranked third in scoring all-time for collegiate players in South Dakota. The Tri-State Conference scoring champion in 1966-67 and 1967-68, he was All-Tri-State Conference in 1965-66, 1966-67, and 1967-68. He led USF to a conference title in 1966. He was named first team All NAIA District 12 in 1966-67 and 1967-68. Krayl was the first player to have his jersey (#10) retired. He was a third-round pick in the 1968 ABA draft by the Dallas Chapparals and after a short stint in the Army, Krayl was chosen by the Philadelphia 76’ers in the 1971 NBA draft. During his time in the Army, Krayl was a member of the Armed Forces All-Star squad which also included Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyewski and Penn Head Coach Fran Dunphy. He completed his playing career in the Eastern League with Scranton and Trenton from 1971-74.
